Health Care Centre

Welcome Boarding Students and Parents,

I would like to welcome the new and returning students to another exciting school year. For the new parents and students, my name is Tracy McDill, the QMS School Nurse. You will find me in the Health Centre Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.

School policy is that all medications be kept in the Health Centre and administered by the school nurse or house mom with the exceptions of epi pens and puffers. I have a fully stocked Health Centre with over the counter medications so there is no need to send medications to school unless it is a prescription.

If your day student becomes ill during school hours, I will contact you and ask that you come to the Health Centre and pick up your child. Please keep your child at home in hopes of limiting the spread of germs here at school.

Please remember that home sickness can make even the slightest cold seem much worse than it is for a Boarding student. If you are worried about your daughter’s health please phone or email me right away.

If you have given your child Tylenol for a headache before school, please let me know in the event your son/daughter comes to me before the four hours is over and needs another dose before she/he is due. This is mainly directed towards the Junior School as the young students have no real concept of time.

We have a school Doctor, her name is Dr. Lyn Pascoe, we also have a School Dentist, and his name is Dr. Fowler. I make all the girls medical appointments for Boarding students, which include: eye exams, physio, chiropractor, massage. I try to make all appointment for after school but this is not always possible. Before I can send your daughter to an appointment (other than Doctor) I need an email from you stating that I can charge your account for a certain service and how often your daughter can attend that service, example: Please allow my daughter to go to massage therapist once a week and bill to my account. I will let you know about how much the charge will be when I ask for your permission. If your Daughter needs glasses I will ask for a maximum amount she can spend on glasses. Without this email I can not send your daughter to the appointment.

One last request, if your child comes home with an ice pack or tensor bandage please send these back to the school. Both are reusable and the return of these items will help keep costs down.

Please complete the Medical form included in the Individual Student Forms Package and be sure to update me if there are any significant changes throughout the year.

If you have any questions please phone or email me at the school.

Yours sincerely,

Tracy McDill, LPN
School Nurse
