Train to Compete Program

Grades 8 - 12
(Applied Skills Elective-High School Credits)

The Train To Compete program makes QMS the leading Equestrian School in Canada. We offer students an opportunity to fine-tune their riding and competition skills. Through lessons, clinics, shows, practical and theory sessions riders hone their skills. Riding her own horse or a leased horse the rider participates in a regular training regime with the intention of competing. There is an emphasis on excellence in sportspersonship, horse care and rider training.

Each year of a TTC student’s career at QMS begins with a review of her “Individual Equestrian Plan” (IEP). The IEP outlines the student’s future goals and clarify what steps need to be taken to reach them. The student’s Equestrian Advisor, the student and her parents decide together about those goals and how best to reach them.

Students are encouraged to express what their future goals are as far as advancing their riding/equestrian careers (i.e. Pony Club or EC Rider Levels testing). Every effort is made to ensure that the resources and support they need is available.

Equine Studies 11 is a mandatory course for TTC 11 riders. TTC Riders who wish to take the course in Grade 10 may be allowed to do with permission of their faculty and equestrian advisors. TTC Riders who join the QMS community in Grade 12 are expected to complete Equine Studies 11 in their Grade 12 year.
