Train To Ride (Grades 4 - 12)

For boys Grades 4-8 and girls Grades 4-12 interested in recreational riding or entry-level competition we offer the Train to Ride Program. In small groups of students with similar levels of riding experience students ride once or twice a week. The emphasis is on fun and safety!

In addition to regular riding lessons the Train to Ride Program includes a regular Stable Management session. In this course the focus is on fun, safe horse handling and general knowledge of horses. It prepares the student for their riding lessons and offers a forum for learning more about their equine friends. The Train to Ride is a program available to all students who wish to ride for fun.

Train To Compete (Grades 8 - 12)

The Train To Compete program makes QMS the leading Equestrian School in Canada. We offer students an opportunity to fine-tune their riding and competition skills. Through lessons, clinics, shows, practical and theory sessions riders hone their skills. Riding her own horse or a leased horse the rider participates in a regular training regime with the intention of competing. There is an emphasis on excellence in sportspersonship, horse care and rider training.

Each year of a TTC student’s career at QMS begins with a review of her “Individual Equestrian Plan” (IEP). The IEP outlines the student’s future goals and clarify what steps need to be taken to reach them. The Equestrian Advisor, the student and her parents  decide together about those goals and how best to reach them.

Students are encouraged to express their future goals as far as advancing their riding/equestrian careers (i.e. Pony Club or EC Rider Levels testing).  Every effort is made to ensure that the resources and support they need is available.

Train to Compete riders may be eligible for the Shirley Burr Equestrian Scholarship.
