Jan Green - Past Faculty 1975-2004
I taught at QMS from 1975 until I retired in 2004. I taught all the PE for several years and then did PE and Grade 6. My last few years at QMS I was involved in organisational administration, dealing with Student Affairs, Special Events and functions, calendar, OOMA etc. I wore many hats in those last few years!
I really enjoyed my years at QMS and repsected it as a wonderful school with great staff and students. I am delighted to see it reaching its true potential and taking its real place among the BC Independent Schools once more. I am now the contact person between the School, OOMA and about 500 past students and staff and I love to hear from anyone who has spent time at QMS. Please write to me and tell me what you have been doing over the past years.
Rob Rankin - Past Faculty 1991-1998
Currently teaching and Math Mentor at the Halifax Regional School Board
I have been quite involved with the NS Dept. of Education, developing and assessing the provincial Math examinations. Spend a lot of time as well mentoring new Math teachers within the board. Still quite active in hiking, fishing, kayaking and being Dad to Riley (born in Duncan) and Bryn. We also have two Labrador Retrievers now, Kipper and Clover. Life is good. Ms.Anthony (Rankin) and I spent 7 of our first 8 years together, teaching at QMS. Our first daughter was born while we taught there and we made a lot of lifetime friends. We flew out to BC several years ago as we wanted to have our youngest daughter christened in the chapel. The other night I received an email from a past student of ours from QMS, inviting us to a wedding! QMS was where we found ourselves as well as a family, an awesome place. Anyone wishing to visit NS in the summer let us know, we love to play tour guide and we have lots of Kayaks and even a cottage that can be used.
Joan Anthony Rankin - Past Faculty 1991-1998
Currently teaching IB History as well as Global History in one of the largest high school in Nova Scotia. I have been back to work only for the last 1.5 years as I have been dealing with fibromyalgia for the past seven years, things are getting a lot better. Enjoying being back in NS, though we miss our BC friends. QMS was a great place to work with the future female role models of tomorrow.
Sonia Goodlad - Past Receptionist, early 1990's. Mother of 2 Alumnae, Anita & Robyn.
Marnie Turner (nee Jackson) - House Mom, Dean of Residence 1996 - 1997
My former husband taught Science & Math at QMS from 1980-1987 (Joe Jackson) under Madame Davies in Senior School. Heads of school during our time were Miss Archibald, Howard Dixon and Peter Hill. I was a Part Time house mom for a year and was then appointed "Dean of Residence" for the next year. Many great memories!
Joe Jackson ~ Past Faculty 1978 - 1988
Joe taught Science and some Math. Mrs. Jackson was a house Mom.

Peggy Vincent ~ Past Residence Staff 1995 - 1997
After completing 2 years at QMS in care of Denny Hall, I left to be Assistant Boarding Manager at Nelson College for Girls in New Zealand. Two and a half years later I returned to retire in Gibsons, BC where I work on my art of Eggshell carving. I won the International EggArt Emu Carving contest held in Iowa, USA in 2006. I now have my work around the world.
Working at QMS created bonds of friendship, a sense of loyalty to each other and the school. To give encouragement and care to teens in their "home away from home" I hope I helped and that I was there when the girls needed me. They in turn enriched my life.
I like to hear the news of QMS and I hope to view the new buildings and changes you have now accomplished. Great to see the school expand.
