Our ESL Program
Queen Margaret’s School is a university preparatory school committed to providing students with a challenging educational program and a positive boarding experience. We prepare our international students for entrance to universities and colleges in Canada and the United States. We ensure that our students complete the British Columbia high school graduation requirements and receive the grades they require to meet their educational goals.
Our ESL program is designed specifically to increase students’ English language competencies giving them the skills they require to integrate successfully into the regular academic English program required for British Columbia high school graduation and entrance to North American universities. The ESL program is designed to support both social adaptation and academic success. We recognize that each student has unique strengths and personal academic goals that require individual attention and seek wherever possible to address these individual needs and goals both during the initial placement process and during the program.
We provide ESL support for senior students enrolled in the following subjects:
* ESL Language Acquisition 8/9
* ESL Language Acquisition 10 – Intermediate
* ESL Language Acquisition 10 – Advanced
* ESL Social Studies 8/9
* ESL Canadian Studies 10
* Social Studies 10 (for ESL students)
Junior School ESL
In the Junior School, ESL instructional support is provided for Grade 4 to 7/8 ESL students to increase their English language competency and to assist them in participating in the regular academic program. This support is offered through additional individualized and/or small group tutoring.
