Welcome to Queen Margaret's School

About Queen Margaret's School

Established in 1921, Queen Margaret's School is located on 27 country-like acres on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. We offer a safe and secure learning environment close to Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia.

Early Childhood Education (ECE) & Junior School
Our co-ed Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program for three and four year-olds, and co-ed Junior School (Kindergarten to Grade 7) begin the adventure of learning in small and enriched classes. QMS faculty and staff are committed to providing an educational environment where the love for learning flourishes through involvement in academics, the arts, athletics, service and an integrated equestrian program. Through these experiences, our students learn to embrace life, seize its opportunities and face its challenges with creativity, courage, intelligence and optimism.

All-Boys High School Preparation Program
For many years, Queen Margaret’s School has been on the cutting edge of gender-based learning. In September 2011, QMS introduced a ground-breaking program exclusively for adolescent boys. Grade 7 and 8 boys actively participate in a learning environment that guides them into critical thinking, problem solving and the time management required for successful entrance into their high school years.

Boys tackle projects from concept, through research, to design. They explore exciting themes in language, social studies, art and music instruction. Their learning extends beyond the classroom to include: eco-stewardship, career exploration, outdoor education and volunteerism. Healthy competition and collaboration are reinforced through daily activities and athletics.

Our high school preparation program just for boys offers focused instruction and fewer classroom changes than your typical junior high structure. This specialized class cultivates confidence, self-reliance and provides life and academic skills adolescent boys need to successfully transition into high school.

All-Girls University-Preparatory High School (Grade 8-12)
An all-girls high school university-preparatory program allows young women to achieve in a structured and safe learning environment without the social pressures of a co-ed classroom. Girls in Grade 6 through 12 may board in our multi-cultural residence community where they cultivate self-reliance with responsibility.

Our Grade 8 to 12 classes balance an academic emphasis with vibrant athletic disciplines, including a unique Equestrian program, and enriched visual and performing arts programs. Our teaching approach provides a solid academic foundation, which encourages critical thinking and problem solving, fostering a joy in learning. Our residence is a multi-cultural community where students can cultivate self-reliance with responsibility.
